I have a beautiful wife, two children (boy and girl… aged 7 and 5) who like to remind me of the importance of a work life balance by regularly climbing on me whilst I’m trying to work (the kids that is… NOT the wife!) This reminds me to pay attention to what’s really important (pictured in the background). My kids ALSO help me understand the true value of coffee (my other true love)!
I have a French Bulldog called, “Dr Millie H Ericsson” who is named after a legendary Hypnotherapist (Dr Milton H Ericsson). And yes, if we go to the vet I make them use her full title.
I also have a fascination and a desire to master things that serve no real use simply for the sheer joy of mastering something. So I now ride a unicycle, juggle, do magic, make latté art and can solve a rubiks cube in under minute. Why? Well… why not! I think it’s fun to be learning something new for the simple joy of learning something new.
MENTAL HEALTH BATTLES
At the age of 15, I was diagnosed with a ‘severe panic attack & anxiety disorder’. I spent 3.5 years in therapy and put on medication and throughout that bleak time I was convinced I would never get better.
My symptoms and my struggles included:
- Regular panic attacks (often daily)
- I said at the time “I always feeling anxious”
- Derealisation – I felt that I was disconnected to my body.
- Agrophobic – couldn’t leave the house.
- Air hunger – Felt like I couldn’t take a deep breath or enough oxygen in.
- Dizziness and feeling off balance.
- Health anxiety
Finally after 3.5 years, I got my therapist’s theory as to “WHY” I had these issues. The problem was… I still wasn’t much better!
So I left therapy, determined to find some more solution focused methods of helping myself. And as part of this journey I stopped focusing on the “WHY”, and started focusing on the “HOW”.
HOW could I become FREE FROM ANXIETY?
The tools I came across helped me so dramatically to shift the way I was feeling and gave me practical ways I could change my thinking that I felt compelled to start sharing these ideas with others. Sinc then I have collated 100s of powerful tools and strategies for beating anxiety, which not only transformed my own life but the lives of over 2500+ individuals… AND NOW I WANT TO HELP YOU!
